Yay!

I finished my bag!
Well not completely cuz I have to do the strap, but...
Its finished!
Yay! I'm so proud of myself!
Isn't it cute?
Granted his eyes are a little retarded but who cares?
I love it and I cannot wait until i can use it for school.

You know, sometimes I wonder if anyone is really reading this.
I feel like I just type and type and no one is really reading.

I was watching Julie & Julia last night (Great movie by the way)
And she made a very good point about never knowing if your even there.
Like if you write a blog, and no one reads it, is it still a blog, or has it become more of a diary?

I almost feel like I have to write up a pattern in order to get anyone's attention.
But my problem is that my crocheting skills are not that advanced and all my inspiration comes from someone elses idea.

For example. I want to take this idea and make a pencil case and an ipod case.
Can I call that my pattern and post it or do I just post my changes in the pattern?
I have no clue how copyright things work,
If anyone is reading this and could give me some tips please email me or something.
i would really appreciate it.

Why?????

Why do crochet projects have to take so long to do?
I am trying to do this pattern here.
But only bigger. Like the size of a normal laptop.
Then I'm going to put a strap on it and use it as a book bag for school.
(Which starts in....12 days! 0_o Oh my!)
Grrrr. I want it finished now!!!!!!
Oh! I just realized that I need a yoga mat!
I have a yoga class! Yay stress relief and flexibility!
OH! Well, anyway, after I'm done making the bag, I'm hoping to make a pencil case and an Ipod cover case thing
THEN, I'm hoping to take that idea and create a Panda Bag. Oh my imagination and creativity at its finest. I have never crocheted so much in my entire life as I have been lately. Hooray for boredom!

HA HA! Ive done it again!

Man it feels so good to learn new things.
Today, the accomplishment is.....

Japanese Amigurumi charts!

I made this little penguin and I loves it!

I think its a girl (She's purple)
So shes going on my keys and I think Im going to name her.....
Polly
Yes. Polly, the purple penguin. hahaha
I already have two people offering to pay me to make them some.
Its wonderful!
Anyway, for those of you who actually know how to crochet,
The link above goes straight to the pattern.
she is soooo cute!!!

Okay, so it's not exactly Amanda Palmer

But I didn't want to have to do all of the details, so I made it into some sort of dead-looking Punk Rock doll.....
I like him though. He's my first amigurumi doll. Hmm... What should I name him? Lol. Kevin.
I don't know but here's the pictures I took of my creating process.

Building Kevin:

Legs:

His Arms:
Okay, so I didn't take a picture of the finished arm. So shoot me!

His Torso:

Putting him together. Sorta:

His Head:

I had some fun after I put his head on:
You cant really see cuz he was moving but I hung him by his neck from my ceiling. His neck was all floppy, but I fixed him.

Hair:
It's a mohawk, I swear.
Eyes:
See? Mohawk!
Well, That's Kevin. My first Amigurumi. But definitely not my last. I'm gonna go to the yarn place we have here and get normal looking colors, then I'll do the REAL Amanda-gurumi.

Hooray!!!!

Well, I'm almost finished with my Amanda-gurumi (that's what I'm calling it) prototype.
I'm in the process of finishing up her head, (which I think might just be too big for her body.)
I've taken lots of pictures of my progress which I will post for the world to see.
Now I would love some feedback on it because it IS a prototype, but please be kind.
I used left over yarn from my grannies, so shes all oddly colored (she has blue hair!)
I love her though, and I hope the site that I'm making her for will love her too.
I didn't really use a specific patten for her, I did, however go to different sites to try to figure out the art of amigurumi (which actually isn't all that difficult, by the way) and I just learned as I went.
Now, I know what your all thinking, "Is she going to post up a free pattern for this doll?"
Unfortunately, the answer is no because, well, I didn't really create the pattern, I just borrowed some tips and morphed them to make what I needed.

Well, so much for that.

I finally finished my Pink, Green, Blue and Purple Granny Squares.
Only problem is that I don't have any Orange or Yellow so I can't complete my blanket.

So I'm trying my hand at amigurumi.
I want to try to make an Amanda Palmer doll.

This is the lovely lady in all of her awesomeness. What I love about this photo is that you can obviously tell that her legs are not shaved lol

I think the most challenging thing will be her eyebrows. Its not Amanda Palmer if I don't get the eyebrows right.
That is proving to be rather challenging.
All the patterns that I am finding are rather difficult to follow.

Why is amigurumi so difficult?

Oh well, anyway, I feel like typing for the most part today so here is the storyline behind how I came upon this decision.

First I feel the need to explain to you who Amanda Palmer is. She is an indie artist. She used to be a part of The Dresden Dolls (She is the female obviously). Then, something happened and they split up so now she is a solo artist. My other half ADORES her. (its almost an obsession)

She is sorta smaller so yeah, she tours mostly in New York and the east cost (We live in California) so we never get to see her in action. But shes totally awesome and does like web casts and stuff.

So we were watching her web cast, (my other half and I) and she kept promoting stuff for Post War Trade, which is fan based art and stuff that she thinks is really cool, and Ive been thinking about selling my stuff online so I thought, "Well, why the hell not?" So, as you can see, my first crack at amigurumi is gonna be a doll. HA! I'm gonna have fun with this one. I've already gotten started on my prototype. (If my other half likes it then we get to go to the store to get proper colors! Woot!) I think I am only going to make 100 of them so they are rare and unique. I want to also make some sort of special label so everyone knows that this is MY product. (I hate when someone buys something handmade and claims they made it.

So yeah, those are the plots that are forming in my head.....I'm going to take many many pictures and keep all of you out there posted on the progress.

P.S. If you still don't know who she is but you know who Neil Gaiman is, he and Amanda are engaged (see cuteness HERE)

My New Hat!!!!

Yay! I finally finished the hat that's been sitting unfinished for a while.
I'm not sure what my plans are with this.

Anywho, new subject. Well a new update on an old subject really. My granny squares!

This is the lovely growing pile of squares I have accumulated.

And there is still more to grow. There are only 86 in these photos. I still have to finish the pink then get the orange and yellow done. But as i have said before I'm pretty much broke so I think I will just start assembling what I can then just add as I go....

As of right now I have.....

14 Pink

2 Orange

24 Green

24 Blue

And 25 Purple!!!!

Monday, January 11, 2010

80 down, 64 to go.

24 Purple
24 Blue
16 Green
2 Orange
14 Pink

Sigh. I just need. 8 more green and 10 more pink then I need to go out to the store to get orange yellow and white. Man this is becoming tedious and boring. I took some photos of the progress but my phone doesn't really cut it so I'll get real photos put up later. Man I'm feeling sluggish and bored today and I don't understand why.

I think I might start typing up the pattern for the really cute hats im planning on making but Im trying to decide if I want to put them up for free here or sell them or something..... Hmmm decisions, decisions. Im new at all this pattern writing and stuff so that might be a hurdle then I need to figure out how to upload a PDF file to sell

Hooray!!!!

You know, sometimes I amaze myself with what I can accomplish from just looking at a picture. I found some other examples of that Crochet Beanie I was talking about yesterday, and I think I've figured it out. And since I couldn't find a pattern or anything Im thinking of writing one for you ^_^ God I feel so amazed and accomplished. YAY!!!!!

66 Down, 78 To Go!

Sigh, almost halfway there, and I am already starting to think about doing other projects. I am determined to do a Granny Square Beanie and I found one site that had really cute ones and now I've lost it and i am going out of my mind trying to find it again. Oh screw it, maybe I'll just figure it out on my own. GRRRRR

I did it!!!!!!!

I made that baby blanket!!!!!!!!!
I am so proud of myself!!!!
And it looks perfect.
Granted I still need to put some sort of trim on it.

Here it is:

Yay me!!!!!

Oh so close, yet so far away

So here are some photos of the progress I have made as of yesterday

and I am nowhere Near being done. ::sigh:: Oh well, at least I have my free time. I have so much of it lately I feel I will go insane if I just decide to stop crocheting. Oh the joys of yarn!

Happy New Year!!!!

I know that I am a few days late, but who cares?
My pile of squares is growing more and more and I believe I am going to start some form of countdown to the end of this mountain. So far I have:

  • 3 Pink
  • 2 Orange
  • 0 Yellow
  • 12 Green
  • 15 Blue
  • 24 Purple

Dang, 56 down, 88 to go. And on top of it, I'm more than half way done with the hearts baby blanket I am working on. Granted I more than likely will not be able to give you a pattern because of copy write reasons. But go me!!!! I will try to have an update on the granny squares every day or every other day or so.

Happy Crocheting!
